Interior Design

The quality of any architectural building is based on the type of designs, shape, color schemes, and its composition. Interior design refers to the science and art of complementing a building’s interiors for purposes of making it appeal to the specifications given by the owner (Pedersen, 1986). Interior designs therefore play an important role in making buildings to aesthetically appeal to the specifications offered by their clients (Bienias, 2004). Each city is made up of unique interior designs that are influenced by interior designers who were employed for the interior design work (Pedersen, 1986). Each of the interior designers is always inspired by different factors including their daily lives, their daily interactions, and their experience in mixing different designs to come up with something appealing. As such, the purpose of this paper is to give an overview of the interior design found in the City of Zirma, one of the towns that have one of the most appealing interior designs from the cities offered.

The interior design of the City of Zirma

The City of Zirma is one of the most appealing cities that make visitors get back to the city for purposes of experiencing the city’s beauty (Calvino, 1972). The design of the city significantly repeats itself from one building to the other, thus making it easily notable by any visitor passing through the city. In addition to the repetitive designs that are evident in the city, the external designs of the city are considered highly appealing, with some of the key features that are easily notable in the city being the existence of skyscrapers where all the lunatics in the organization take most of their times (Bienias, 2004). The presence of the skyscrapers have given the city its outward look, and this has been considered as one of leading factors that influenced the interior design of most of the city’s buildings.

On top of these key features of the city, the organization of business houses like the placement of the windows across the streets has been considered one of the key influences that make it appealing to any of its visitors (Pedersen, 1986). The spacing of the shops in the city is also considered one of the key factors that make the city highly appealing to any of the parties visiting or passing through the city (Calvino, 1972). One of the elements that make the city better and more appealing is the different colors that have been used to decorate these business houses. Each of the business premises along the streets of the city is decorated differently based on the type of activity carried out in it (Bienias, 2004). For example, the types of decorations in the tattoo piercing shops are meant to appeal to any of the visitors or the parties passing through the city who may be attracted to have tattoos and other piercings made on them.

The paintings in these shops have been significantly influenced by everything that goes in within the shops. Tattoo shops are characterized by some significant amounts of tattoo drawings that are meant to entice customers while at the same time giving them an opportunity to choose any of their preferred tattoos from the internal decorations made on the walls (Calvino, 1972). It is also worth noting that each of the building in the city has a distinct color that makes everything good and appealing to any of the parties getting through the city. Importantly, it is clear that most of the designs have been influenced by the type of buildings in the streets of the city (Pedersen, 1986). The meaning of this, all the skyscrapers in the city have different and unique internal designs, with most of them having plain colors making their interiors while the other short buildings have colored with different patterns coming out of each design made by the internal designers.

While most of the offices in the city are characterized by plain colors, a big number of the small buildings where casual businesses used to take place are influenced by the kind of business carried out in each (Bienias, 2004). From this explanation therefore, the nature and type of business that is carried out in the city seems to have a lot of influence on the works of the interior designers. The choice of color used is also influenced by different factors that could include the type of business to be carried out in the business, the preference of the client involved in the job, and the colors used in some of the houses neighboring a building (Calvino, 1972).

Additionally, some of the other factors that seem to have influenced the interior designs in the city include the level of technologies adopted in each of the buildings in the city streets, the ability of the designers to either work as an individual or a team, and the level of wellness for the clients served (Pedersen, 1986). Technologies contributed significantly in determining the type of paintings done as well as the type of finishing done to the interior designs made in the city. For examples, the designs developed in the city’s skyscrapers seem to have been done by some of the most advanced technologies as of that time, while the designs in the low level buildings in most of the business houses were hand-made and did not apply advanced technologies like those in the skyscrapers (Wells, 1993).

The wellness of the clients was used to determine the type of color to be used on their interiors. Different paints have always had different health effects to different individuals. Some of the clients may be allergic to some of the paints used in making their interiors as a result of the smell produced while others may prefer having bright colors used in their walls as opposed to dark colors being applied (Pedersen, 1986). As such, the type of color or paint used in a building is always determined by the customer preference. Interior designs that are made by an individual are always different from those made by a team (Wells, 1993). Therefore, having a design worked on by a team leads to better designs being developed while an individually worked on design may lack some very fine details that always make the designs appealing to both the clients and the designers.

Personal opinion on the reading

The content presented in the book has been put in an easy to understand language that makes it easy for the reader to perfectly follow through the readings. The reflection of the interior designs of the cities has been perfectly done, with the author making detailed discussions of the fine details of all the cities discussed. The flow of content throughout the reading and the organization of the information presented in the reading show the author’s mastery in communicating to his target audience. The flow of the story is further aided by the perfectly arranged timelines in the readings. The explanations given by the author also offers the reader with an opportunity to compare the specific designs of each city because the author explains each of the cities in a systematic manner.

However, despite the effectiveness in the language used by thee author to communicate to his target audiences, the information given form some of the cities is not convincing and detailed enough to explain to the readers in the best and most effective way. Some of the explanations given about the interior designs of the cities are very scanty, thus failing to deliver whatever the reader wants to capture everything concerning the interior designs of these cities.

As such, I think it would have been effective if the author made detailed discussions on the factors that influenced the interior designs of these cities rather than giving some scanty information that only explains very little about the cities. The book reading could have also been better if the author used some sub-sections to make it easy for the reader to locate some of the information without having to go through the entire book. Having the sub-titles will also make the reading more interesting and easy to follow through.

Conclusion

To conclude, the interior design of every building in the city is highly influenced by a number of factors that can be found within. The meaning of this is that, while the interior designers had the opportunity to influence the designs of the buildings in the city and its streets, the economic activities that are carried within have acted significantly towards influencing the internal designs of each building. It is also important to understand that there were a series of factors that contributed to the development of some of the interior designs that were developed in the city. Some of the factors that are said to have contributed towards determining the interior designs of the city included the type of technology used by the interior designers, the wellness of the client, and the designer’s ability to either work personally or in a team. It is therefore important to understand that the interior design of the city was not a one day’s work because a lot of work was put in to making the city attain its status.
